History: Chi Rho

Our house has a long history, this is a short overview:

Numan House CrestThe Fraternity that would eventually become the Chi Rho chapter of Phi Kappa Theta started as a branch of the Numan club (a catholic boys club). These original founding brothers purchased a house in June of 1950, with the generous assistance of 10 local business men. The Objectives of the Newman house still reflect our own. They existed to “Foster the Spiritual, Intellectual, and Social interests of its members”.

Chi Rho Crest

In 1966, the Newman club transformed into the Chi Rho fraternity, and the following year it was accepted into Michigan Techs Inter-fraternity Council. In 1968 Chi Rho becomes the Chi Rho Chapter of Phi Kappa Theta.
